- Howard Seth Chism Was born and raised in Barren County Kentucky. His
parents migrated from Kentucky to Cooper County Missouri around 1819.In
1831, he was united in marriage to Mahla Williams. They established
themselves in a farming enterprise. Later in 1835, he and Mahlapurchased
land in the newly organized Morgan County. Mahla died in 1837.Howard
was remarried to a widow, Sarah (Duncan) Embree, probably around 1838.
Later 16 of May 1850, he was married again to Emily Cline. Howard wasnot
only a farmer, but he was also a surveyor.
