Notes
- Mary, the oldest daughter of Jacob and Priscilla (Howard) Chism, wasborn
in Barren County Kentucky, probably in the area which is now MonroeCounty.
She migrated with her parents around 1819 to Cooper County Missouri.Here
she grew to maturity. In 1821, she was united in marriage to Thomas
Randolph Adams Letchworth. In 1831, Mary and Thomas moved to CamdenCounty
Missouri near the Osage River. Mary died in 1832 leaving three small
children. The youngest child, Benjamin, died in infancy. Thomasremarried
in 1833 to Margaret Robinson. He died in 1835. The children thenwere
taken into the home of the grandparents, Jacob and Priscilla Chism,where
they grew to maturity.

Letchworth and that he was born in 1787. He also says that thechildren
