Possible Connection:

From the bio at this site
we know that Jacob and Susan (Corder) Bowles were the parents of John Bowles who married
Sarah McIntyre.

Next, the 1840 census for Lawrence County, Ohio, lists Jacob Bowls with 5 sons:

1 under age 5
1 age 5-9
2 age 10-14
1 age 15-19

Then Jacob and his family are in Scioto County in 1850, and two sons are named:
William, age 18, and Robert, age 13.

Going back to the 1840 census, we now have...

1 under age 5 - Robert, born abt 1837
1 age 5-9 - William, born abt 1832
2 age 10-14 - John, born 1826 (don't have the second one)
1 age 15-19 - ??

Okay, keep all this in mind, as we jump to the line of George Bowles. Look at these
census records:

As you can see, George Bowles is living next door to John Bowles in the 1880 census.
IF they are brothers, then George is the eldest son of Jacob in the 1840 census:

1 under age 5 - Robert, born abt 1837
1 age 5-9 - William, born abt 1832
2 age 10-14 - John, born 1826 (don't have the second one)
1 age 15-19 - George, born abt 1824

George Bowles has a son named James who was born in Ohio about 1851. IF this is
James Bowles who married Catherine Elkins, then we have the link to his parents
and grandparents.
