was friend and guitar player of Jim Croce. He was also my cousin. His maternal grandfather Thomas Malone and my paternal grandmother, Katie Malone, were siblings. I never knew Maury and had no idea of our relationship until a few years ago, when I was contacted by his younger brother Robert Muehleisen.
Robert, his sister Mary Muehleisen Nowak and I are working together in researching the Malone family line.

A plane crash took the lives of musicians Jim Croce and his lead guitarist, Maury Muehleisen, along with 4 others by crashing into a tree while taking off for a concert in Sherman, Texas.
