Bun was interested in cars and fixing cars he once made a list of all the cars he owned. He was a machinic by trade and in later years he worked as a grounds keeper and jack of all trade in Flordia and in Arizona.
The things I remember about my Grandpa Bun By Jacquelyn Brennan Miller:
My grandpa gave me my first Easter basket when I was 4 months old. I remember visiting my grandparent is grandma giving me money to walk to the A&P to get grandpa's varorite red jelly filled donuts. Walking down to the City docks and fish with grandpa. We would go to the tourist park, walk on the beach, skip rocks, swing and go on the merry-go-round. We would go for rides thru the woods looking for old dumps and finding old bottles. Grandpa would always stop and pickup turtles in the road and help them across the street.
One time Grandpa had Uncle Jerry's old blue convertable and loaded it up with the grand kids. We always use to beg him to take us for a ride. We all loaded up and he drove us around the back of the house and along the back alley by the foundry. He pretended he was stuck in a mud puddle and we got out to push. Wel l You can guess what happened He gunded the car and off he went down the alley without any grandkids and we were left standing in the alley all covered with foundry black water HaHa
Grandpa use to ring the bell at the church and one day when I was little he let me swing up on the rope that rings the bell.

Notes from eldest son John B. Brennan Jr & Grandaughter Jacquelyn Miller:
Catherine Eileen Awanda Farmer, eldest daughter of Arthur Farmer and Estella DeFord, was born on September 2, 1905, in East Jordan, Michigan. Catherine weighed only 1-1/2 lbs. at birth. She was born down by the railroad tracks, 6th house on the left side. Her mother Estella liked to move, so the family moved 2-3 blocks and lived for a while, then moved up the hill 1-1/2 blocks to Main and Division, then moved on a farm with 13 acres inside the city limits. The farm had an extensive garden, grew grapes, 2 cows, 2 pigs, and rabbits who weighed 14-15 lbs.
Catherine was a very tough baby. She survived a roll down some steps. Her Uncle Walter DeFord, who was living at the time with Estella and Arthur, was pushing tiny Catherine in the buggy when all of a sudden the buggy folded up. Walter was sure he had killed the baby. He was heard running down the street screaming "I 'kilt' the baby , I 'kilt' the baby." Someone who was passing by, unfolded the stroller to find Catherine safely sleeping inside the stroller.
Catherine was Baptized at St. Joseph Church in East Jordan on October 7, 1905. Her sponsors were Matthew and Mary Quinn. Catherine graduated June 12, 1923, at 8 o'clock at St Joseph High School, East Jordan, Michigan. She was Salutatory of her class of 11. Archie La Londe was the Valedictory of the class. The Class colors were Sea Green and Silver, the flower was the Tea Rose, and the motto "Drifting Whither". Catherine joined fellow class mates, Florence Kraemer, Marie Nemecek, and Marie Brennan in a duet of "Boblink Polka".
Catherine took nurses training in Ann Arbor before falling sick, and had to return home. She worked for several Doctors in the East Jordan area.
Miss Catherine Eileen Farmer was united in marriage to John Bernard "Bun" Brennan on October 31, 1927 at 8 o'clock a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. D.M. Drian performing the ceremony. The wedding march was played by Miss Irene Bashaw. She wore a beautiful white ensemble suit and carried a bouquet of roses. She was attended by Miss Helen Brennan, sister of the groom, who wore a pink dress and hat and carried roses and white chrysanthemuns. Richard Farmer acted as bestman. Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served to about forty friends and relatives at the home of the bride's parents.
A family of seven children kept Catherine busy, she found the time to become a cosmetologist. She pretty much supported the family with her own beauty shop, usually in the house, but a couple of times the shop was downtown somewhere. Settling on Main Street, the shop was in the front corner of the house, then moved to the lower level. She sold out a few times but, seemed to go to work for the new owner and eventually bought the shop back.
When Catherine and Bun decided to travel, they headed south to Florida. They were house and yard keepers to The Doctor Rodger's Family of Miami, Florida. Catherine had to learn to cook jewish foods. Moving on to Arizona they became psuedo Grandparents to a Mexican couple while they did yard work and cooking chores for The Don Williams Family in Arizon
Always cheerful, optimistic, and looking for the good in all people and situations, Catherine is respected by many. She played piano at the Temple Theater for the silent movies while still in school and played the organ at St. Joseph Church for over fifty years. A devoted Catholic whom hardly ever misses a mass on weekdays or Sundays come rain or shine. She loves to read books, magazines, letters, and communication. We have to give her a lot of credit for keeping our family heritage together. She has kept in touch with family all over the country and has traveled to see many. Her love of crocheting and knitting has us all snug and warm.
In 1986 she was voted Mother of the year by The East Jordan Rotary Club.
She has had both hips replaced, the second one at the age of 87. Early in 1995 she fell, requiring brain surgery and then a subsequent heart attack, Catherine has had a hard, yet wonderful life. Her last days on earth were spent a Grandview Extended Care in East Jordan. Died Janurary 5, 1997.
