Larmondra, Matilda Maude

Here is Gilbert Kerr's information: Born in Clarendon Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Felix Larmondra and his wife Anastasia de Bellefeuille. Married in Pembroke 56 years ago to Mr. MacGillis. she lived in Pontiac county before coming to Pembroke some 37 years ago. She won many awards in the Ottawa valley as a horsewomen in her earlier years and was prominent in charitable work: Pembroke Women's Institute (she was the first life member); Pelbroke Catholic Women's league; La Federation des Dames Canadiennes Francaise; Sacred Heart Society and General Hospital. She was survived by husband, one daughter Mr. J. M. Sikorski, Pembroke; one grandson Donald Sikorski; two brothers Theophile larmondra, Bronson Avenue Ottawa; E. A. Larmondra, Fort William; one sister Mrs. H. H. Deacon, Pembroke; a daughter Miss Anastasia MacGillis died some years ago.

Gilbert Kerr's notes are puzzling. There is a McGillis and and MacGillis. Both have daughter's named Anastasia Isabell. I don't know which one was the first wife of Francis Kerr. He later married Gladys Larmondra.

Matilda married Archibald James McGillis, son of Donald McGillis and Isabell McDonald, on 10 Oct 1881 in St Columba church Pembroke, Ontario. (Archibald James McGillis was born on 14 Jun 1858.)
