Country School Addition
18-Feb-2010 - One of the fun things about doing a site like this where you add something a bit special is every once in awhile you receive a message like I did this week. “I am loving your site.....it brings back so many good memories of attending a one room schoolhouse.”
But best of all was a link to their own country school set of memories. Except these folks actually have reunions! See the Kentucky memory: Evergreen in Lawrence Co. and enjoy the good ole days.
See other Country School Memories in the right navigation.

31-Jan-2010 ~ Addition of whole new page. Every Abraham Coffman, no matter what spelling, from the “A Genealogy and History of the Kauffman-Coffman Families of North America 1584 to 1937” by Charles F. Kauffman. I lost count how many there were. And after this I did not find my specific Abraham listed. I knew that going in. Was hoping that I had just overlooked something. However, it doesn't mean that I did not find research information. And if you have an Abraham Coffman in your ancestry, this may help you as well.
I am aware that the navigation is screwed up on the page. But the information is more important than the time it would take to figure out the problem.
29-Jan-2010 ~ What she didn't tell us, or maybe we were too young to appreciate it, it fugits really fast!
I haven't stopped researching although at times it has slowed down due to “life” intervening.
Genealogy folks who really research share. I have the potential this year, due to people contacting me from two different message boards, to break a brick wall on both paternal and maternal side of the family. That's exciting. And even if the wall doesn't come down, I'll still learn something new about each line.
I switched from Family Tree Maker (FTM) to Legacy a few years ago. I found it much easier working in FTM 2006. But that ease sometimes led to bad habits of not recording as much as I should have and not in proper format.
I think though it's more of a matter of what you get comfortable using. I started out with FTM. Got used to FTM. And I was doing a lot of work weekly so it was “easy” to remember what to do. I've been gathering information but not inputting in my database so why on earth would I expect NOT to get rusty!
I truly PLAN on posting more information here within the next few months.
~ Updated links on the Sullivan County, Missouri - Brief History page.
~ Finished a minor update to Would the Real Abraham Coffman please stand up? page.

What started out as a little expansion to my father's family research has grown into a full-fledged hobby. I just never realized how much fun this research could be. History, in a way, became alive.
So welcome to my Genealogy site. You'll find current brickwalls, the history and geography of my family tree. I have also included (or will be adding more as time goes by) links to the tools and resources that have helped me along the way.
Enjoy exploring the site. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Please send to idogenealogy@yahoo.com. If you have any information to add, please read the disclaimer page first.
