- David Hardin Chism was born in Barren County Kentucky (now MonroeCounty).
Around 1819, his parents moved from Kentucky to Cooper CountyMissouri.
His education and childhood was spent in that county. In 1835, his
parents moved from Cooper County to the newly organized MorganCounty.
The family settled land located southwest of Versailles, Missouri. On
May 24,1837, he was united in marriage to Teletha Hix at Versailles,Mo.
They established themselves in a farming operation southwest of
Versailles. Their six children were born on this farm. Teletha diedin
1853. David Hardin remarried in 1857 to Thelney L. Williams. Heserved
in the Conferate Army during the Civil War. He survived the war, but
never arrived at his home. No one knows what happened to him.Thelney
remarried to a Harrison Coonse. They had three children: Henrietta,
Sarah A. and Mary Etta. Henrietta was born 22 Dec 1872, Mary Etta was
born 22 Sep 1868, and Sarah A. was born 1 Nov 1874.
