Hawnby, Yorkshire is the
earliest known home of the Chapman's (circa 1600). The "New Hall" is the
home at which many early generations of Chapman's where raised before some
departured to the New World. Some remained behind, however there no
Chapman family's in the area today.
The New Hall has obviously has gone threw some renovations and is today a
very beautiful home while still keeping some of the appearance it had in
earlier days. The country side around Hawnby with it's rolling hills is
remenisant of the terrain the first Chapman's found here in Atlantic
Canada. |
