He married twice. He married Hannah Gore May 1667 in Norwich, New London, CT.⁽⁶⁶⁰⁾ Hannah⁽⁶⁶¹⁾ was the daughter of Samuel Gore and Elizabeth Hill. Hannah died January 24, 1670/1671 in Norwich, New London, CT, at age unknown. He married Hannah Gallop May 12, 1672 in Norwich, New London, CT.⁽⁶⁶²⁾ (Additional notes for Hannah Gallop⁽⁶⁶³⁾)

Stephen Gifford and Hannah Gore had the following children:

585 ii. Hannah Gifford⁽⁶⁶⁴⁾ was born in Norwich, New London, CT January 14, 1670/1671. She married Samuel Calkins.⁽⁶⁶⁵⁾ Samuel was born October 1663 in Norwich, New London, CT. Samuel⁽⁶⁶⁶⁾ was the son of John Calkins and Sarah Royce.

Stephen Gifford and Hannah Gallop had the following children:

586 iii. John Gifford⁽⁶⁶⁷⁾ was born in Norwich, New London, CT April 1673.

587 iv. Ruth Gifford was born in Norwich, New London, CT December 30, 1676.

588 v. Stephen Gifford was born in Norwich, New London, CT August 28, 1679.

589 vi. Aquilla Gifford was born in Norwich, New London, CT October 23, 1682.
