Obituary for John James Arnot Jr.

Mr. J.J. Arnot of Rolling Bay, for many years identified in the lumber industry, and civic affairs, passed to his final rest on Friday, May 31, in a Seattle area hospital after a short illness. Mr. Arnot was born in London, England, 73 years ago. He came to America with his parents when he was 3 years of age, settling in the east. He came west in 1906, and made his home on Bainbridge Island where he engaged in the sawmill business. He later went into the mercantile business in Seattle but retained his home at Rolling Bay, and after a few years sold his business there and devoted his time to the development of his lumber yard and real estate holdings on the Island. He was for some years the Rolling Bay Postmaster and one of the organizers of the Rolling Bay Community Club... Mr. Arnot was a man of sterling character, possessed of a good deal of energy and forward looking.

Survivors include the widow Emma May Arnot; daughters: Mrs. F.A. Johnson, NYC; Mrs. R.C. Wesson, Arlington; Mrs. Hugh Murdock, Van Zandt, WA; son: Frederick P. Arnot, Arlington; D.F. Arnot, Orange, MA. Brother: William Arnot, Seattle, WA.
